Massages can help reduce stress, muscle tension and pain but according to several studies the benefits of massages are not only physical but also emotional. Massages promote physical and mental wellbeing. Here are some of the beneficial effects of massages:
The beneficial effects of massage treatment are cumulative. In that sense repeated treatments over a period of time will have the biggest impact, as bodywork influences every system in the body.
Every body is different but equally beautiful. Don’t let your body issues stop you from getting a massage. Almost everyone feels self-conscious about their body in one way or another. Massage therapists have seen all kinds of bodies in all shape and sizes, from young to old and we are not there to judge.
A massage is a pleasurable experience and can really help to relieve & soothe both aches and pains, help unwind and relieve stress. I use drape techniques and even dim lights which will help you feel more at ease. If you are feeling that way you’d probably benefit from a pampering and relaxing massage session.
These are some of the health conditions that are not suited to receiving massage treatment:

·Phlebitis | ·Atherosclerosis |

·Burns | ·Infectious Skin Diseases |

Please arrive 10 minutes before your first appointment to fill out a form about your general health and wellbeing. I would also like to know what areas you would like me to concentrate on during the session and your goals. I will then explain to you how will the session progress. I will also answer any questions you may have. During the session, I will ask for your feedback to ensure that the pressure I am applying is effective and that you are comfortable. Please let me know if you feel any discomfort so I can adjust the technique accordingly.
It will depend on the type of massage you are having. Some types of massage and techniques applied require the use of oil or lotion directly on your skin. Others will not. In order to maintain your privacy, I will leave the room while you undress and get settled on the treatment couch. Towels will be provided for you and I will always use drape techniques to uncover only the areas I am working on.
It’s about self-indulgent “me-time” so use it to your advantage. Try and disconnect from any problems, worries, obligations or fears. Avoid, planning and remembering. Instead, close your eyes, try to relax your mind and concentrate on your breathing. Try to concentrate on every aspect of breathing in and out. While some people prefer to close their eyes and relax, others prefer to talk. Do what feels more natural to you. There are no rules.
It depends what are you looking for. If your goal is for massages to help you with relaxation and general health, I advise you to have a session once or twice a month if you are under light to moderate stress or if you are sedentary or exercise occasionally.
If you are a very stressed person, very busy or have to cope with challenging living conditions I would recommend having a weekly session. The general rule is that if you start to feel drained, restricted or distracted, make a commitment to yourself and book an appointment.
